Safeguarding

Protection is not a policy. It is a condition of participation.

Safeguarding is a Zone-wide requirement. It applies to every institution, every mentor and every activity within The Zone Africa ecosystem.

Our commitments

Safety. Children and vulnerable participants must be safe in every Zone environment, physical or digital.

Responsibility. Every adult working within the ecosystem carries personal responsibility for the wellbeing of the people in their care.

Accountability. Mentors and facilitators operate within approved organisational expectations, not personal discretion.

Appropriate reporting. Concerns must be raised promptly, taken seriously and handled with care for the person affected.

Escalation. Serious concerns are escalated through approved organisational procedures.

Protection of children and vulnerable participants. Their protection takes priority over convenience, reputation or programme delivery.

Raising a concern

The formal safeguarding process is governed through approved organisational procedures. Detailed public reporting procedures are not yet finalised for publication.
